Imlay City High School - QuietSlide Horizontal Sliding Doors

The Problem Solvers

Imlay City High School in Imlay City Michigan needed a high STC rated sliding door to separate the scene shop from the stage.

Noise Barriers engineering team developed a custom sized Quietslide door that met the budgetary goals of the project.

The Project Parameters:

  • The height issues are critical as we have ductwork entering through the wall above the door.
  • Space only to one side of the opening for a door only to one side of the opening for a door.

Our Scope of Work Included:

  • Consultation of the clear opening space requirements.
  • Overhead space requirements for the power door track and motor.
  • Structural steel requirements to support the 3000 lb. door.
  • Forces to open and close the door.

The Noise Barriers Solution:

Based on the clear opening requirements - a single leaf (10' x 16") sliding door was designed, separating the scene shop from the stage floor. Noise Barriers sales department worked together with engineering, the architect, and with the school's administrators to develop a custom product that fulfilled the requirements and met the budgetary goals.

The Results:

This project was successful because we employed a deep team approach with members from multiple areas of expertise all of whom understood the final goal and worked together to achieve it.
